Welcome to Opsound's Open Sound Exchange. Here at Art Interactive, Opsound is collecting material for a sonic portrait of Cambridge/Boston, and generating an internet radio stream, the Opstream. You can listen to the stream using the headphones on the chairs to your left, or through the front windows of Art Interactive.
Opsound is a gift economy in action, an experiment in applying the model of free software to music. Please feel free to explore the opsound site, and to contribute your own music and sound to the Opstream.
I'll be in residence several weekends of the show, including the closing weekend December 10-11, and I'd be delighted if you stopped by to have some coffee, chat, contribute sounds, and walk with me through interesting parts of the city.
LOOK, LISTEN, INTERACT, PLAY, CONTRIBUTE! SUNDAY DECEMBER 11 4-8PM - CLOSING PARTY 6-8PM
We'll be having a great day of performances and events to celebrate final day of the show here at Art Interactive. We'll be starting off at 4PM with a live video stream by LoVid, performing on handmade video and audo synthesizers. At 5 we'll have RZ1-Mobile Tek inviting everyone to make music with their cell phones via small downloadable programs. For the evening party we'll have ambient experimental live musics from Eric Raz, Brad Bordine, and Weapons of Mass Destruction, as well as sounds we've gathered over the last 9 weeks. Free beer by Tiger Beer (thanks!) and other live art projects by Glowlab artists throughout the day.
RIGHT HERE AT ART INTERACTIVE, SUNDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING 4-8PM

How to participate in Open Sound Exchange (it's not too late to add your sounds!):
Opsound's "Open Sound Exchange: Boston" is gathering material for an open pool of sounds relating to the city. Boston real and Boston imaginary, Boston past and Boston now: yelling cabbies, Rat new wave, Fenway Park crowds, sunday afternoon string quartets, harbor noises, sidewalk folk singers, Composers in Red Sneakers new music, banker high heels, museum whispers, Media Lab algorithms, Big Dig construction, student arias. every city is a world of sound -- help discover Boston's by creating a kaleidoscopic sonic portrait. Contributions can include work from, about, or inspired by the idea of Boston. Boston sounds, including field recordings from various parts of the city, are already in the pool and available for remixing.
To contribute, simply add your sounds to opsound, and tag them with the word "boston."
