Johnathan J. Stegeman - Wasted Time

This, unlike a considerable amount of the music posted lately, is not a deep metaphorical representation of an allegory that is investied in imagery based upon no proven or factual basis. What you are witnessing is real. The participants are actors, posing as serious musicians, all in one body.

No one was hurt in the making of this production. Distortion added at will, and this song is NOT loop based. All tracks except drums are synthesized with an ALESIS, and Garage Band 2.

Wasted Time

By: Johnathan J.
Johnathan J. Stegeman - Spiral Swirl

Please See Main Post at:

http://www.freewebs.com/midimacman/music/songs_1/spiral_swirl.html

Ambient to my ears, and perhaps you won't approve. Personally I am pleased with the stereo imaging that I have achieved here, through the use of panning. I also think there are really cool effects throughout the piece. Pay attention to some of the rapid fluctuations in panning that I have used at the end.
This track was originally layed out in Garageband. The version that you are listening to has been remastered with Peak for Macintosh. It consists of a mixture of loops, and samples from an Alesis QS6 Synth. I used a PowerMac G4 Dual 867 mhz processors and 1.5 gig or ram, along with an Edirol UM 550 Midi Interface to create this piece.

Spiral Swirl

By: Johnathan J.
Markovich/A.M.P. - Wasted Symphony

This tune/song is about stumbling out of a dance club in Temple Bar in Dublin (the Kitchen, if you know it), and trying to buy milk (why?) in an all night store; So you've got this dance beat still echoing around your skull, the store is lit with bright neon, and you are having trouble focusing on the goods; You've a great buzz from the pints and you're in a brilliant mood.

Oh yeah, and it's a tribute to Massive Attack's Unfinished Sympathy and The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony

Wasted Symphony

By: Markovich/A.M.P.

This song is licensed under a Creative Commons license: Attribution ShareAlike 2.5

Markovich/A.M.P. - Who is Peter Tong?

The much shortened radio edit of "Peter Tong", featuring the excellant vocals of Jerry Allen, transforms this dance track into something much more accessible.... This song documents an event on the island of Ibiza last summer. After sitting around on the beach all afternoon, playing guitars and bongoes and sampling local and imported produce, we thought we'd get a taxi into town and catch Peter Tong's set (a famous DJ, and more famous now that he has a film named after him), and try and get him to play a demo of one of our songs. He wouldn't (of course). Anyway, that's the story behind this song: it starts out on the beach, the sun going down, taxi to a club (I don't think it was Space - prob. Pacha - but that makes for a better lyric), back to the beach in the wee small hours.

Who is Peter Tong?

By: Markovich/A.M.P.

This song is licensed under a Creative Commons license: Attribution ShareAlike 2.5

Markovich/A.M.P. - Everything's Otay!

Another strange one from the mystical island of Ibiza.

The track started life as a normal ballad, called "Something New", and we were like just strumming along on the beach one evening, thinking no bad thoughts at all, when this fella turns up, and starts singing his own words over it: "Otay, otay, don't you worry, everythings gonna be otay!", and it sort of worked, it added something that was missing to the song.

Anyways, we got talking and decided to go to his “villa" where he had a small studio in his garden shed, and thats where this version got recorded, with him on production and fetching of chilled vodka duties.

Now here's the funny thing, his name was Frankie Wilde, and he'd been on the island a good few years, doing some Dj'ing and stuff, then this movie comes out about him and whilst there are some similarities, its definitely made-up. I even think the Austrian in the movie is supposed to be me (don't ask...)

Everything's Otay!

By: Markovich/A.M.P.

This song is licensed under a Creative Commons license: Attribution ShareAlike 2.5
