I am a Chilean/Italian guitar player based in Bristol, UK.
These are some sound art, improvisations and home recordings made between 2004 and 2005.
Elaborated improv over recited buddhist guidance. Voice, vocal effects, tabla, mandolin, guitar.
This song has various heads and tails. It started as a series of 4 tabla jams where I played along to whatever was on BBC Radio 3s Late Junction. From this I built an improvisation made from 2 mandolin, 2 tabla, one found sound noise, and one solo guitar. The guitar then goes on a journey - a virtual trip using Google Earth - from Genova to somewhere in the middle of Emilia Romagna. I recently uploaded a mandolin track from this to ccmixter, where a remix is due to appear.
Improvising experiment where some tracks on a multi track are aware of others and some not. Includes 2 tabla, 2 guitar tracks.
Song including Mandolin, Tin Drum, Vocalisation and Children improvising (but he couldn't think of any words).
Chance multitrack experiment using left over recordings and a classical guitar variation.
This goes with an old story which came from a dream I had when I was 4 about getting stuck in school after class was over and in the empty school going to hide in the toilets. In the toilets there was now the metallic entrance to a huge tunnel of neverending pipes. I imagined the pipes were actually cursed, and were in reality the eternal prison of the enemies of an ancient king who had killed them all and stolen their eyeballs to adorn his hall. They would roam in the tubes and could be seen if you looked closely at the veins in the eyes. Maybe one day one of them would burst out in a now touristy city and wreak havoc... I turned around and the doorway had closed behind me and when I opened it again there were only pipes as far as I could see. I walked for ages and at one point I found a fork in the path, but then it just went on and on again.
Voice and guitar improvisation. After an evening poisoned by vegetables and inspired by Zappa and musical excitement 14/01/2004
An elaborated improvisation. Over a transcript of a conversation about a friend whose 5 year old son woke up and went for a walk at around 4am, only to be brought back by a stranger. Song and guitar. 14/01/2004
I've always been playing, since I sang in a group of chilean refugee children as a child growing up in Scotland. I studied a bit of classical guitar while growing up in Italy, played in various bands and finally ended up in Glasgow again as a student and played instrumental versions of my music in guitar duos. Then I moved to Bristol, where I joined the Wild Strings Quartet, followed by a brief stint in Barcelona where I played with Meritxell Naranjo and her band. When I came back to Bristol I started doing much more improvised experimental music, as well as playing with the wild strings again, starting to perform solo material, getting involved in the improvising Orchestra Cube as well as with various other improvising collectives .
